2.20.02 Attributes Added by Government Departments

Policy

Client attributes are added to a client file when the client has met all operator/vehicle registration licensing requirements.  Attributes allow clients to have specialized services and/or reduced fees.

Motor Vehicles

A request must be sent to Motor Vehicles to add and delete the following client attributes:    

Consular - consular or consul

Motor Vehicles will confirm the client’s eligibility through the Alberta Protocol Office.

A Consular officer is an official appointed by a government to operate a consular office and represent that government’s interests in Alberta. The consul attribute applies to Consuls and Vice Consuls and identifies that they are eligible for a Consular Corps licence plate and operator services. The consular attribute applies to consulate offices, Career Consuls, Honorary Consuls, consular staff and family members. The attribute identifies that they are eligible for a Consular Corps licence plate. 

Registries Assurance

A request must be sent to Registries Assurance to add and delete the following client attributes:

Charge - charge

Registries Assurance will confirm a registry agent’s eligibility for CHARGE account.  The CHARGE attribute allows the registry agent to charge searches, abstracts, and VIR’s to their registry agent office MVID.  A registry agent’s search account MVID (PUAN) must have the CHARGE attribute to charge for services on account.  

Abstract - abst

Registries Assurance will confirm a registry agent’s eligibility for ABST account.  The ABST attribute allows the registry agent to charge abstract reports to their registry agent office MVID.  A registry agent’s search account MVID (PUAN) must have the ABST attribute to charge for Abstract requests.

Commercial Driver Abstract - cdab

Registries Assurance will confirm a registry agent’s eligibility for CDAB account.  The CDAB attribute allows the registry agent to charge commercial driver abstract reports to their registry agent office MVID.  A registry agent’s search account MVID (PUAN) must have the CDAB attribute to charge for commercial driver abstract report requests.

Search - srch

Registries Assurance will confirm a registry agent’s eligibility for SRCH account.  The SRCH attribute allows the registry agent to charge search reports to their registry agent office MVID.  A registry agent’s search account MVID (PUAN) must have the SRCH attribute to charge for search requests.  

Vehicle Information Report - vsvr

Registries Assurance will confirm a registry agent’s eligibility for a VSVR account.  The VSVR attribute allows the registry agent to charge Vehicle Information Reports to their registry agent search office MVID.  A registry agent’s search account MVID (PUAN) must have the VSVR attribute to charge Vehicle Information Report requests.   

Data Access/Contract Management Unit (DACMU) 

DACMU is responsible for approving all Agreements for Access to Motor Vehicle Information (AMVIR) and will add or delete:

  • Search/Abstract authority levels; see AVMIR Agreement Holders – Section 1.00.05.
  • Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC) Excellent Safety Rating Attribute - CS-EXSR Client attribute CS-EXSR.
    • The Compliance unit with TEC will confirm a client's eligibility for a CS-EXSR client attribute. This attribute waives the government fee for all driver abstracts requested. There is no impact or change to the registry agent service fee.

Clients must contact DACMU regarding an Agreement for Access to Motor Vehicle Information.

Clients must contact TEC's Compliance unit for information regarding the Alberta Carrier Excellent Safety (ACES) Program, excellent safety rating and the CS-EXSR client attribute.

Alberta Agriculture

Is responsible for approving, adding and deleting the farmer attribute.

Farmer - farmer

Alberta Agriculture will confirm a client’s eligibility for a farmer attribute. This attribute permits clients to purchase tax exempt marked fuel.
