1.10.11 Record Unapplied Money
Policy
A registry agent must process through the Record Unapplied Money service any Registries’ revenue received that cannot be directly applied to a MOVES service at the time of receipt. This service is used for:
- Non-negotiable cheque processing, see 1.10.06 Non-Negotiable Cheque Processing.
- Alberta Transportation administrative penalties.
- Alberta Transportation permit charge account payments.
- Carrier Services or Transport Engineering permits.
- Changing ownership of a personalized plate when it is not registered to a vehicle, see 4.45.04 Personalized Plates.
A registry agent must place an alert against the client’s file indicating the following information:
- Client’s name.
- Contact individual’s name and telephone number if applicable.
- Reason for unapplied money.
Note:
US prorate payments must not be placed in unapplied money. US funds must be deposited directly into the Province of Alberta Rapidtrans US bank account.

When the unapplied money is used to pay out a service, the unapplied money payment transaction number must be used in lieu of the actual payment. A second service charge must not be collected when using the unapplied money.
