4.35.04 (3-ord) Transporting Own Goods - Traveling in Alberta
Policy
A 3-ord plate class is used to register a vehicle that transports the registered owner's own goods on a commercial basis within Alberta.
Registration Requirements
A client must:
- Provide proof of acceptable identification, see 2.05.02 Acceptable Identification/Enrolment.
- Provide proof of ownership, see 4.00.01 Vehicle Ownership, Creation and Registration Documents.
- Provide proof of insurance, see 4.00.02 Insurance Documents.
- Provide an Alberta address, see 2.10.01 Addresses & Acceptable Abbreviations.
- Provide the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
Operating Requirements
One or both of the following requirements may be required for operating purposes only:
- A Safety Fitness Certificate (SFC).
- A Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate.

Regulation Code
To register a vehicle with permanently mounted equipment, ensure Regulation Code 12 (12-mount) is recorded on MOVES, see QR 4.16 Permanently Mounted Equipment List (pdf).
