4.35.05 (3-ordp) Transporting Own Goods - Prorated

Policy

The 3-ordp plate class is used to register a vehicle that:

  •  Is operated within Alberta and at least one other jurisdiction.
    and
  • Transports the registered owner’s own goods on a commercial basis.

A prorate cab card must be issued with all vehicle services except duplicate vehicle registrations.

Operating Requirements

One or both of the following requirements may be required for operating purposes only:

  • A Safety Fitness Certificate (SFC).
  • A Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate.

Regulation Code

To register a vehicle with permanently mounted equipment, ensure Regulation Code 12 (12-mount) is recorded on MOVES; see QR 4.16 Permanently Mounted Equipment List (pdf).

Registration Fees

Alberta Transportation, Prorate Services calculates registration fees. The fees are calculated based on the percentage of total distance travelled by the carrier within each jurisdiction.
