3.15.05 Operator Condition Code Maintenance

Policy

ATTENTION:

A condition code maintenance service is used to:

  • Add, delete or modify condition codes/endorsements on a driver’s licence.
  • Reduce the expiry term of a driver's licence; see 3.05.03 Expiry Terms.

Note:
Clients applying for an operator condition code maintenance service have the option of renewing their driver's licence extending their expiry date to the maximum allowable term. Clients must meet all licensing requirements; see 3.15.03 Operator Renewal.

Licensing Requirements

A client must:

  • View the client's most recent image on MOVES when processing an operator condition code maintenance service to verify the identity of the client.
    • If the client's images cannot be viewed, the operator service cannot be processed.
  • Capture a photo of the client.
  • Capture the client’s signature.
  • Issue an interim licence.

No Charge

The following regulation codes are used to issue a no charge condition code maintenance service:

  • Regulation 00-fee to override the government fee
    and
  • Regulation no-comp to override the registry agent’s service fee.

A no charge condition code maintenance service is issued when:

  • Correcting a clerical error.
  • An alert has been placed on the client’s file, or the client presents a letter from DFM requesting the addition or deletion of a condition code.
  • A client renews their driver’s licence and it is determined that a medical is required. There is no government fee charged to the client when they return with the medical to have the Condition Code C added to their driver’s licence. 

The reason for the no charge condition code maintenance service must be indicated on the driver's licence / identification card application.
